Portraits in the Park

“Is patience still a virtue?

Come and join photographer Stephen Caissie in a fun, free exploration of the “slow photography movement”. By using film instead of digital photography to produce a series of portraits that will be revealed over the course several months, the installation asks us to reflect on the demands of the modern trend towards urgency in everything we do. What happens when you slow down the pace of art creation? Is there value in slowing down our lives? How does anticipation affect the worth of things?”

IFA by Gomo George

IFA is a moving sculpture performance that will address issues of violence, grief, forgiveness and celebration.  The project will explore formats of presenting the visual art object, developed to mimic practices of traditional indigenous African societies.  Traditionally the visual object is constructed for use in ceremonial events involving music, dance, and other performance gestures.  Subjectively these events commemorate aspects of social life that delineate the cultural values of the people.
